Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III yesterday reminded private sector employers to observe pay rules on Sept. 12, declared a regular holiday by Malacañang in observance of the Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha(Eid ul-Adha Wishes).

Also called the “Sacrifice Feast,” Eid al-Adha(Eid ul-Adha Wishes) is the second of 2 events celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year.

“Proper observance of pay rules on regular holidays and very special nonworking days will lead to more productive and competent employees,” Bello said in a statement.

The pay rules are:

If the employee did not work, an employee shall be pay 100 percent of his or her salary on this day;

This work done during the regular holiday. He shall be pay 200 percent of his regular salary for that day for the first eight hours;

For  this work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work). He shall be pay an additional 30 percent of his hourly rate on that day;

For this  work done during a regular holiday that also falls on his rest day. He shall be pay an additional 30 percent of his or her daily rate of 200 percent; and

For  This work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) during a holiday that also falls on his rest day. He shall be pay an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on that day.
